Pastor Corey Miller – The “Pastor of Pain”
SEC College Football Hall of Famer – 9 Year NFL VeteranFrom NFL Linebacker to Pastor of Purpose: Corey Miller Inspires Faith, Strength, and Transformation
Pastor Corey Miller, widely known as the “Pastor of Pain,” is a former NFL linebacker, University of South Carolina football standout, speaker, evangelist, and respected mentor whose life story bridges elite athletics, personal adversity, faith, and purpose.
A native of Pageland, South Carolina, Corey became one of the most memorable defensive forces in Gamecock football history. He starred for the University of South Carolina from 1987 to 1990, earning All-South Independent honors in his final two seasons, being named South Carolina’s Outstanding Defensive Player in 1989, and serving as a team captain in 1990. In recognition of his impact, he was inducted into the South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022 and selected to represent South Carolina in the 2024 SEC Football Legends Class. After his standout college career, Corey was selected by the New York Giants in the sixth round of the 1991 NFL Draft and went on to play professionally with the Giants and the Minnesota Vikings. But Corey’s greatest transformation came after football, when his journey through pain, pressure, setbacks, and personal struggle became the foundation for a powerful ministry of faith, encouragement, and restoration. Today, Pastor Corey Miller uses the same passion and intensity that made him a dominant force on the field to impact lives off the field. Through preaching, speaking, mentoring, and community engagement, he challenges people to confront adversity, walk in faith, lead with integrity, and discover purpose beyond performance. His message is direct, authentic, and battle-tested: pain does not have to destroy you; in God’s hands, it can become the place where purpose is born. From the SEC to the NFL, from the locker room to the pulpit, Pastor Corey Miller stands as a living testimony of resilience, redemption, leadership, and faith in action.
